1962-2008
Scott Kalitta, 46, died Saturday when his Funny Car burst into flames and crashed at the end of the track during the final round of qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

2008 Race Dates: PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGES
The dates for the 2008 Mopar Challenge Series are as follows:
1st race - April 20, 2008 (Sunday - day)
2nd race - May 30, 2008 (Friday - night)
3rd race - June 21, 2008 (Saturday - night)
4th (final) race - September 13, 2008 (Saturday - night)
There will be only four races in the 2008 Mopar Challenge Series. Race four will decide the 2008 Championship. Stay tuned for more details and announcements.
2nd Race Results:
May 30 th proved to not be a very good night for Mopars. We had 18 cars show up to race but four of them broke down before first round. Then, after first round, Robert's shift cable broke so he was out and in a later round, Christine threw her driveshaft and she was out. If we still had a hard luck fund, we'd be broke!!! Sorry to all the racers who had difficulties and we look forward to seeing you June 20 th for the 3 rd race of the 2008 Mopar Challenge Series.
Scott Herst faced Ken Kiefer and his 67 Barracuda in the finals with Scott taking home $500 for 1 st , Ken Keifer took 2 nd and $225, and Lauren Maestes took home $160 for 3 rd .
Congratulations to Ken Keifer for his $10 win for best reaction and his $10 win for closet to dial-in of the day (both paid by the club). Remember members, you have to hang around until the end of the race and show your time slips to be eligible for these extra payouts. Congrats also to Robert Covell who won the $25 bounty (sponsored by Faded Glory Interior Painting ) for taking out Brandon Banas . Now we're after you Robert!!!! And thanks to sponsor Rick Leonard of Mopar Muscle Mania for his additional $50 bounty on Steve Alderete who unfortunately broke before 1 st round. But, we'll be after you next time Steve as t his bounty is being offered for the entire 2008 Series. ANYONE who takes out Steve (throughout the season) will get this $50 bounty money.
